The Granary at Priory Mill Farm – Self-Catering Cottage for Two near Brecon

The Granary at Priory Mill Farm is a beautifully converted, one-bedroom self-catering holiday cottage for two. Set in a peaceful, rural, riverside location just a short walk from Brecon town centre.

It is surrounded by its own garden, plus ancient woodland and the River Honddu – (Aberhonddu), which runs the length of the meadow walk into town. It offers the perfect combination of countryside, tranquillity and easy walkable access to shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. It sits within the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park (Bannau Brycheiniog) and offers easy access to multiple cycle routes and mountain walks in the area.

Retaining the original oak beams and oak floors throughout, the historic feel is further enhanced by colourful textiles, rugs, and antique furniture. The bathroom has a cast-iron bath with a large, fixed, overhead brass shower. Bedding and towels are included. Local-interest guides, maps and  books along with plenty of novels and biographies means there’s always lots to do if the weather keeps you indoors.

Ideal for couples, the cottage has its own private garden and outdoor seating, making it a wonderful place to relax after exploring the Brecon Beacons. It also offers its own off street, private parking.

Scenic walks begin directly from the door, while the town’s amenities are within easy walking distance, so a car is not essential.

Whether you are looking for a romantic break, a walking holiday, or a quiet retreat close to Brecon, The Granary provides comfortable, characterful accommodation in a truly special, historic  setting.

The cottage is accessed up a flight of stone steps and is suitable for two people only, but you are welcome to bring your dog along too (as long as it is well behaved … we have free-roaming hens!) There’s lockable bike storage and 3/4 mile of private fishing.

• Spacious fully equipped handmade, oak kitchen, dining, living space with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, antique dresser and dining table and chairs.
• Sitting room with a gas flame style wood burner, comfortable seating with large sofa and two antique armchairs. TV, DVD, CD, WiFi plus an iphone docking station. There are also plenty of local interest guides, maps and books, novels and biographies, plus board games etc.
• Central heating radiators throughout the cottage.
• WiFi.
• Private enclosed garden overlooking the mill and within the historical cobbled yard setting. With two tables, benches and plenty of comfortable outside seating. All within a stone’s throw of the river where wildlife is abundant.
• Stainless Steel BBQ for outdoor cooking.
• Private and exclusive parking for one car.
• One well behaved dog is welcome by arrangement and if supervised at all times we have free range (and free roaming!) hens
• Private, lockable bike storage.
• Fishing –  3/4 mile of private fishing within a few yards of the cottage itself.
• Direct walking access to lots of local walks and woods, plus many longer mountain walks too.

Incidentally we are completely independent from the umbrella travel companies that have quite a hold on the holiday cottage market these days. Instead, we like to communicate directly with our guests and are always available to answer questions before, during and after their stay.

Over the 25 years that we’ve been offering holidays at our home we have built up an ever expanding list of happy customers. When our guests come back year after year it feels like friends and family are returning and when our newer arrivals start to come back regularly too it confirms that Priory Mill continues to have much to offer!
